Camp Kaleidoscope, a summer day camp in Somerville for 6-12 year olds, will be running this summer for its third year!
At Camp Kaleidoscope we build kites, launch rockets, make video games, paint pictures, control robots, and do whatever else seems like a good idea.
Camp is full of projects and materials for kids to explore throughout the day, on their own or with counselors. We have an art table, computers, an electronics station, and an area for taking apart machines, as well as a bunch of fun building toys and games.
In addition to providing a rich environment, every day we bring a wide variety of activities for campers to choose from. Some of the best camp days, though, happen when the children bring in ideas and activities for the counselors!
Camp will be running April 21 - 25 for our spring break camp and June 23 - August 22 for our summer camp. Our camp day runs from 9 am - 3 pm, and we provide early care from 8 - 9 am and late care from 3 - 5:30 p.m.
If you have any questions or would like to receive periodic updates about camp and related events, please email us at kaleidoscope@mit.edu.
Thanks. We look forward to seeing you this summer!
update! (6/28/08)Sesssions 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 (for the weeks of 6/23, 7/7, 7/14, 7/21, and 7/28 respectively) are all full! If you want to register for any of the other camp sessions, you should do so soon, as they are all nearing capacity.
We are starting an educational center for children ages 5 - 13 in the fall. The Kaleidoscope Center will be an alternative to school and a center for homeschoolers, stemming from the same philosophy that guides camp. Please check out our web site for more information!
Our first vacation week camp went splendidly, and now we're accepting registration for our April session (4/21-4/25). This session will be held at Eitz Chayin in Cambridgeport, where we had the February camp. The address is
136 Magazine Street
Cambridge, MA, 02139
Further directions can be found here.
If you'd like to receive periodic updates about camp and camp-related happenings, make sure you're on our email list. If you're not, you can sign up here!
As always, call or email if you have any questions. We're all looking forward to this summer!
